Eyebrow & Eyelash Tint Aftercare: 48-Hour Do's and Don'ts for lash lift and lash tint

We’re big on asking what you use on your skin and around your eyes because the little details matter, especially right after tinting. Here’s the single most important rule: keep your brows and lashes dry and oil-free for the first 24 to 48 hours. In Denver, that usually means skipping steam, hot showers to the face, and sweaty workouts for a minute so the dye has time to fully set. Do that, and your eyebrow tinting and lash tint tends to look cleaner, darker, and more even for longer.

Your 0 to 48-hour tint rules (the part that makes it last)

An Eyebrow & Eyelash Tint is quick, about 20 minutes, but the first two days decide how well your color holds. We generally recommend treating the area like it’s “hands off” for a bit.

48-hour non-negotiables: No water on brows/lashes, no steam (hot showers to the face, saunas), no pools, and no heavy sweating. If you accidentally get them wet, pat dry. Don’t rub.

Can you wash your face at all?

Yes, you can still cleanse, just work around the tinted hair for the first 48 hours. Use a damp cloth on your cheeks and forehead, and keep cleanser away from the brow hair and lash line. If you’re a “splash water everywhere” person, this is the time to slow down for two days.

What about makeup, mascara, and remover?

Hold off for at least 48 hours. Mascara and brow products often need removal, and most removers break down dye faster than you think. Oil is the big one. Oil-based makeup remover, cleansing balm, and even some “gentle” micellar waters can fade tint early.

Days 3 to 7: Denver sun, sweat, and the sneaky fade

After the 48-hour mark, you can go back to your routine, just a little more gently than usual. This is where Denver’s dry climate and strong summer sun can speed up fading, especially if you’re outside a lot.

  • Keep cleansing gentle. No aggressive scrubbing on brows. No rubbing your eyes.
  • Be mindful with SPF. Wear sunscreen, but try not to grind it into your brow hairs. Pat around them instead of massaging over them.
  • Skip exfoliants on the brow area. AHAs, BHAs, retinoids, and exfoliating cleansers near the brows can strip color faster.
  • Sweat is a factor. If you’re training outside or hitting the Cherry Creek Trail, blot sweat and avoid wiping your brow area back and forth.

A lot of our regulars appreciate that we take time to ask about what they’re using at home. That’s not small talk. Your cleanser, serums, and makeup remover decide how long your tint looks fresh.

Products to avoid after eyebrow tinting (and what to use instead)

If your goal is low-maintenance, camera-ready brows and lashes, this part is what protects your result. For 48 hours, think: no oils, no strong actives, no lash serums.

Quick “yes” and “no” list

Avoid (48 hours): cleansing balms, facial oils, oil-based makeup removers, waterproof mascara, lash growth serums, brow gels with heavy waxes, and retinoids/exfoliants on the brow area.

Use instead (after 48 hours): a mild, water-based or sulfate-free cleanser, a soft towel to pat dry, and a clean spoolie to brush brows into place.

If you’re not sure about a product, bring it up at your appointment. We’ll look at what you’re using and tell you what’s likely to fade your tint early. That “keep it simple” approach is usually what gives you the best wear time.

How long your brow + lash tint lasts in Cherry Creek (and when to touch up)

Tint doesn’t fade overnight. It lightens gradually as the hair grows and as your cleansing routine does its thing. Most people see 3 to 6 weeks of noticeable brow color and 4 to 6 weeks on lashes, depending on your hair growth and how much sun you get.

If you’re in Cherry Creek and you like to stack errands, a morning or lunchtime appointment is an easy win. Pop in, get your tint, and you’re back out with more definition without adding time to your day. We also see plenty of people coming in from Denver, Glendale, Aurora, Cherry Hills Village, Englewood, and Greenwood Village for maintenance.

Touch-up timing: If you like a darker, more defined look, plan your touch-up closer to the 4-week mark. If you prefer softer and more natural, 5 to 6 weeks often feels right.

Red flags after a tint, plus how we’ll help

Right after an Eyebrow & Eyelash Tint, a little warmth in the area can happen, but it should settle quickly. If you notice persistent redness, swelling, or itching, stop using products on the area and reach out to us right away. We’d rather talk it through early than have you guessing.

Keep your brows and lashes dry for at least 24 hours, and ideally a full 48 hours. That means no splashing water on the area, no steamy showers to the face, and no pool time so the dye can fully set.

You can shower, but keep the water and steam off your brows and lash line for the first 48 hours. When you wash your face, cleanse around the tinted hair and pat dry. Don’t rub.

Wait 48 hours before heavy sweating, hot yoga, saunas, or steam rooms. Sweat and heat can fade the tint early, especially in the first two days.

Brows often last about 3 to 6 weeks, and lashes often last about 4 to 6 weeks. If you like a darker look, book closer to 4 weeks. If you like a softer fade, 5 to 6 weeks usually feels right.

For the first 48 hours, avoid oil-based cleansers and makeup removers, cleansing balms, facial oils, waterproof mascara, brow products that need heavy rubbing to remove, and lash or brow serums. Oil breaks down dye faster.

Eyebrow tinting is a quick service that adds temporary color to your brow hairs so they look more defined. It’s especially helpful if your brows are light, sparse, or you want to spend less time filling them in.

Our Eyebrow & Eyelash Tint appointment is a short, focused service that adds color and definition to both brows and lashes. The goal is to make your features look more polished without daily makeup.

A tint adds color to your lashes. A lift changes the curl and shape of the lashes. People often pair them because the curl plus darker color makes lashes stand out more, but they are two different services.

Look for a team that asks what you use at home, explains the aftercare clearly, and helps you pick a shade that fits your features. Those details usually make the difference between a tint that fades fast and one that wears nicely for weeks.
